To describe Petite Martinique as calm and tranquil would be a staggering understatement. Life certainly moves at a different pace and visiting the island is a serene experience for any tourist. In fact, Petite Martinique is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Canada. Petite Martinique is the most northerly island in the tri-island nation of Grenada, sitting right on the boundary that separates Grenada from the other Grenadine islands. It can be reached only by boat. It is easily accessible from Grenada as there are ferries running back and forth between the islands. The island’s tiny population of about 900 people consists of some of the most friendly, easy-going people in the Caribbean. The island’s centerpiece is a mountain that offers a magnificent view of all neighbouring Grenadine islands from its peak. Given the island’s size, it is possible to walk or hike around its entirety in approximately one hour. At Palm Beach Guest House you can obtain a water taxi service to the neighboring sandy islet called 'Mopion', a very beautiful little sandy island with little more to offer than a coconut roof umbrella on a pristine beach. It's perfect for couples and families to snorkel in the clear turquoise waters and enjoy the wonderful reefs. On the western side there is a very shallow area surrounded completely by the reef which is safe for even the smallest child to play in. Diving gear can be provided if necessary. An experience you will truly enjoy. As an alternative to a trip to Mopion why not try a trip to Petit St. Vincent (better known as P.S.V Resort), a lovely little island just half a mile to the north of Petite Martinique. The resort is privately owned so there are certain restrictions. Just check with the resort's Reception desk and they will be able to help you and may offer you a personal tour around the island. You can enjoy a swim or do some snorkeling or just lay on the warm white sand and top up that tan! Again, diving gear can be provided.
